Children’s Ballet Theater of Michigan presents its annual production of “The Nutcracker” over Thanksgiving weekend at Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts. The family favorite will be performed November 25-27, just in time for the start of the holiday season.
CBT’s production of “The Nutcracker” has become a magical tradition for many local families, combining the artistry of mid-Michigan’s best young dancers and the awe-inspiring direction of award-winning choreographer Gregory M. George. With tickets starting around $13, the Nutcracker is an affordable delight for adults and children to enjoy together.
CBT is a non-profit arts organization comprised of dancers age 8-18 and their parents and families, who donate their many talents to the production of each show. CBT welcomes guest dancers from the Children’s Miracle Network to perform in this production of “The Nutcracker.” This marks the fifth collaboration between CBT and the Children’s Miracle Network.
New for 2011 is an on-stage appearance by the DeWitt High School Chamber Singers. This premier choral ensemble involves thirty-two students in grades ten through twelve. The Chamber Singers will also share holiday songs in the lobby for the enjoyment of families.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. Tickets are on sale now at 1-800-WHARTON.
