While at the Moneyball Pro Am, I had a chance to chat with some Lansing's finest high school talent to get the latest.
Denzel Valentine, 6-5 jr. Sexton - Denzel, a 3.5 student, has offers from Xavier, Drake, USC and once U-M headman John Beilein returns from Europe, the Wolverines will be offering. And as many have said, Valentine is the type of player that would do well at Michigan. His cerebral approach to the game and high level of skill make him a terrific prospect.
Cha Cha Tucker, 5-11 so. Eastern - Offers from Central Michigan, Western Michigan but he's getting interest from all of the big boys (Big Ten, Big East, A-10). He told me he's worked on his deep shooting this summer and seen improvement there. He still knows there are things he has to work on but he's excited about the season. And with Steven Haney coming over things will get extra interesting.
Bryn Forbes, 6-1 jr. Sexton - No offers yet, but all of the mid-major schools in Michigan have contacted him. Many aren't as familiar with Forbes, a 6-1 junior as Tucker and Valentine, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better shooter in the state. He's a specialist right now, but he has 2 years to diversify his game. If he does, look out.
